Mike Massie accepts the Business Leadership Award at IWP Awards Luncheon in Springfield
Mike Massie, through his private sector company, has demonstrated leadership in the areas of workforce services and economic development. He has made significant contributions to this local workforce area, LWIA 13.
MASSIE & QUICK, LLC, provided a professional platform for Attorney Massie to serve as a leader in the local workforce system through the establishment and continuous improvement of workforce services for justice-impacted individuals in custody and returning citizens. His work was business-lead and business driven, resulting in economic development activities, employment, business expansion, and improved public safety.
Through Mike’s encouragement, Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), Kewanee Life Skills Re-Entry Center corrections professionals made significant contributions to the economic viability of the local workforce area, both in expanded employment and community service.
Mike Massie has demonstrated a State of Illinois leadership role as a Governor-appointed business member of Illinois Workforce Innovation Board (IWIB), representing the sectors of law, public safety, corrections, and security. He served several Governors of both political parties. For many years, he served as Co-Chairperson, Career Pathways for Targeted Populations (CPTP) Committee, in which he was widely recognized for his Venn diagrams showing logical relational aspects of our workforce system. Through his committee work, and engagement of his peers, he not only ramped up services to those achieving at second chances, but also improved programs for youth and people who are differently abled.
Collaborating with workforce professionals, Mike Massie has gathered many partner organizations and stakeholders within the area and region to enhance the local workforce system. He convened meetings and traveled throughout the state to integrate services of Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act core partner and required partner governmental agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and businesses. He engaged elected officials, administrators, professionals, executives, and business owners, in and through the Illinois General Assembly, Workforce Development Board of Rock Island, Henry and Mercer Counties, Not-For-Profit Corporation, American Job Center ®, Illinois Department of Corrections, Illinois Department of Commerce, Rock Island Tri-County Consortium, Illinois Community College Board, Lake Land College, Black Hawk College, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois Department of Human Services, 160 Driving Academy, AutonomyWorks Incorporated, C & L Supreme, Midwest Trailer Manufacturing, LLC, and National Tube Supply Company, to name only a few.
Mike Massie is a strong proponent of business engagement, since it develops the economy, improves productivity and profitability, while providing career pathways and living wages for individuals.
Attorney Massie is a rural Illinois law specialist in agriculture, business planning, estate planning, real estate, and wind law. He has explored and supported the workforce system of the country of Liberia. And he is active in The United Methodist Church, as well as his local Rotary club.
