Michael
Michael, a 17-year-old ex-high school student, enrolled in the “Connect to Your Future” youth program at the Workforce Services Division of Will County to earn his GED. While in the program Mike was placed in a six-month paid internship. He performed his job so well that he was hired part-time after completing the internship. Encouraged by his success, Mike enrolled in the Welding program at Joliet Junior College, earning the Presidential Award from Illinois Welding School along with his diploma. Mike is currently employed at Citco oil refinery as a welder, and looks forward to a bright future.
Mike thanks everyone who helped him get to where he is now. “I now focus on positive things that will help me keep on track. I don’t have time for distractions,” Mike exclaims!
