Ryan

Ryan came to the Quincy Workforce Center as a dislocated worker interested in the John Wood Community College (JWCC) Industrial Welding program. Before his training was completed, Ryan was asked by a current instructor to teach one of the welding classes a few nights a week at JWCC. This offer was gladly accepted, as his goal in pursuing Industrial Welding was to eventually teach.

Ryan wanted to be a leader and help provide learning opportunities for others in the welding industry. After completing the Industrial Welding training, Ryan registered to attend a Certified Welding Inspector Seminar offered by the American Welding Society in Nebraska. His final exam had three different parts to it: fundamental knowledge, practical inspection, and codebook navigation. By combining industry expertise with real time application, the American Welding Society seminars provided the most realistic, engaging, and effective test preparation solutions for career success. Earning this Certified Welding Inspector credential involved serious work and will have a significant impact on Ryan’s future.

As a result of his grades and his attitude in attending training each week, John Wood Community College hired Ryan for a teaching position. Ryan always pushed himself to be better and didn’t settle for anything less. He always had a desire to help others learn. What better way to do this than to teach others in the welding industry? Whether Ryan decides to continue to teach at JWCC or take a different position after receiving his Certified Welding Inspector credential is up to him. There is no doubt that whatever he decides to pursue, he will make a positive impact and be very successful!
