Phibro at IWP Awards Luncheon
Phibro Animal Health Corporation accepts the Business Leadership Award at IWP Awards Luncheon in Springfield

Phibro Animal Health Corporation (PAHC) is a diversified global developer, manufacturer and marketer of a broad range of animal health and nutrition products for use in the production of poultry, swine, cattle, dairy and aquaculture. They are on a mission to provide safe and effective solutions for producers’ unique challenges, in an effort to optimize animal health and nutrition for better lives and a more sustainable world.  Through partnership with producers, Phibro continues to evolve a global portfolio to help animals – and businesses – thrive.  They have manufacturing facilities in Quincy and Chillicothe, Illinois, as well as Omaha, Nebraska.

Phibro first became a customer of the Workforce Office of Western Illinois when they utilized the incumbent worker program to train 48 employees in three different programs.  One example is the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Training.  This training was new for several Phibro employees and addressed the need to improve efficiencies in several areas of manufacturing.  As a result of the TPM training, Phibro moved to a computerized maintenance management system.

Phibro was the first manufacturing company in LWA 14 – Western Illinois to participate in the Apprenticeship Illinois initiative.  As an international supplier of animal nutritional products, Phibro is required to comply with each country’s product regulations.  The Regulatory Affairs Specialist position became a registered apprenticeship in 2021.  The apprentice is learning knowledge related to the regulation of animal feed products, including frameworks, requirements, legislation and processes.  The second registered apprenticeship, Industrial Maintenance Technician, was created, in partnership, with the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center in 2022.  The apprentice is currently enrolled at John Wood Community College through incumbent worker funding in the Industrial Manufacturing Technician program to meet the Related Technical Instruction requirements of the registered apprenticeship program.

Phibro is always willing to present and promote the apprenticeship program. This company is an advocate for employee training as a key retention strategy.  It supports Manufacturing Month by hosting the Manufacturing Day Kickoff, demonstrating at MakerFest and providing facility tours to high school students.

Phibro is truly a community leader and workforce advocate.
